Presentation Summary:
This presentation will focus on recognizing the signs of financial, physical and psychological elder abuse and financial scams targeting elder adults.
About Our Speaker:
Mary Knox has been a prosecutor with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for 37 years and has worked in every criminal division of the office. She is currently the Elder Abuse prosecutor and works closely with the elder service organizations in Contra Costa County and the Family Justice Centers.
Ken Tam is a Forensic Accountant with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. He is a former FBI agent, has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from the UC Berkeley, a Master’s of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, he is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of California, and he is a Certified Fraud Examiner. Ken is an adjunct professor of Accounting for California State University – Stanislaus.
Detective Zach Williams is with the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Investigations Division, Special Victims Unit, specializing in Elder Abuse and Domestic Violence. Detective Williams has been in law enforcement for 22 years, 15 with the Office of the Sheriff, 3 years with the Special Victims Unit, all of that working elder abuse cases and domestic violence.
